Don't you hate it? Not exactly a major threat to world peace, or individual safety or liberty, but an eyesore, and a detraction from "visual amenity".

Take the picture below. A reasonably attractive 1930s corner building. Except that I had to do a huge amount of work in Paintshop to get rid of:

Two lamposts (of different design)
Two street sign posts
An enormous & intrusive CCTV camera post

I also took the opportunity to get rid of:

A couple of television aerials
All the white road markings
