A quick glance at the map shows two railway lines snaking north, and some wonderful, isolated country between them. Our journey was to take us from Corrour (on the Glasgow - Fort William line) to Dalwhinnie (on the Perth - Inverness line). Only 30 or 40 km. Probably do-able in one day by the super fit, reasonably do-able in two days by mortals. We elected to take three days, giving plenty of margin for bad weather, lethargy, etc.
